WELCOME TO LUPINE KIDS AND TEENS!

A “WALDORF INSPIRED” HOMESCHOOL GROUP

Lupine Kids and Teens is going on its eighth year as nature-inspired, community-minded, mostly media-free homeschool group for kids born in ‘00/’01 and ‘94 thru ’97. We are an intimate group of families who meet each week on Mondays in San Mateo county from 10:00 to 2:30 with a trained Waldorf teacher to further enrich our days together.

OUR ACTIVITIES

We share seasonal crafts and celebrations, music, and plays, while playing in a yard (or hanging out in the tree house!) and garden that invite digging, building and creating of all kinds.

This year, among many other projects, the senior kids have created a musical band, are learning to quilt, are studying Botany, and are participating in our geography club.

Our community of families also regularly gets together outside of Mondays for outings, family gatherings and many other fun homeschooling activities, including meet-ups with the other Bay Area Waldorf Homeschooling groups.

THE KIDS LOVE GEOGRAPHY CLUB!

The kids take turns choosing a country to study together. Each family shares resources we find, such as great library books, web sites, and recipes.   When studying China, we went to Chinatown. While learning about Egypt we went to the Egyptian Museum and ate at an Egyptian restaurant in San Francisco. We culminate our study together at Geo day at Lupines. Each family brings a potluck dish from the current country (our kids help us cook), we do a craft from the country, wear costuming and listen to music to name a few ways we have found to travel the world together.

Lupine Kids and Teens was inspired by the story “Miss Rumphius”, by Barbara Cooney. Miss Rumphius, known as the Lupine Lady, was encouraged by her grandfather to find a way to make the world a more beautiful place. In the end, she chose to plant Lupine seeds everywhere she went. Each spring more and more Lupines grow to beautify the landscape. The parents of Lupine Kids and Teens want to make the world a more beautiful place by providing a nurturing and empowering space for our kids to be together, in hopes that they, too, will go out and make the world more beautiful.

Please do visit a couple of times, and get to know us!

We are currently looking for kids ages 10 to 13 and the families they belong to J

Together, we celebrate the seasonal festivals of the Soltices and Equinoxs, as well as  traditional holidays such as Valentines day, Winter holidays, and Halloween. These are days we all look forward to and are proud to bring to our children.

A note about siblings. We love them! Todldlers at Lupines are known as Sandbox Kids. They are welcome to stay, or if your older Lupine child feels comfortable staying with out you, (most will!) feel free to take some time away to spend with your toddler just the two of you. Moms can rotate at Lupine day to be sure there is always enough parental help. This day is for the children born in the years noted above..
